Where would you normally use timber handrails ?
As a handrail, either attached to the wall or as part of the balustrade on a staircase.
What is it made out of ?
Sustainably sourced American (White) Oak that has been laminated length ways for greater stability and quality.
The grade of timber that we use is referred to as SELECT, and is the highest quality available.
It is relatively clear and free of defects, but a small amounts of gum vein, surface checking (splits), tight knots and black specks are acceptable within the SELECT grading rules.
These defects give the timber its character, and will not be considered in the case of a refund being requested.
What are the important dimensions ?
Overall : 65mm Height x 65mm Width x Various Lengths
Maximum length available is approximately 4.0 metres (subject to availability).
Can I get a rebate (groove) machined into the bottom of the handrail to suit either your 42mm square timber balusters or 16mm square metal balusters ?
Yes, this is now a service that we offer. Click on this link
to add rebating to your shopping cart.
How should you finish it ?
If looking for a natural finish, then a clear lacquer will be fine; or you can use a stain to achieve your desired colour then use a clear lacquer to finish it off.
If wanting to paint, we suggest using the cheaper priced Pine version of the same rail.
Speak to your local paint retailer for more info.
